Thank you for dropping by. I’m so glad you’re here! I cannot welcome you enough 🙂
My name’s Natasha Jones (aka The Happy Mrs. Jones). I have been battling depression since the sixth grade, but I wasn’t officially diagnosed until years later.
Over the years, there have been a helluva lot of ups and downs and I’ve learned a lot. You can find out more about me here.
This site is a place where I can put together my research as a journalist and couple it with my own personal experiences.
Once I started antidepressants, I was surprised that they didn’t fully take me to the place I wanted to be mentally. It seemed that I was drowning and the antidepressants became a life-jacket. They brought me to the surface but I was still a long way from shore.
What I’ve learned is that medication is just the beginning.
In order to truly thrive, we have to approach depression from a mind, body and soul perspective. There’s a lot of work to be done and the pills will only get us so far.
I do want to point out that I am not a medical doctor and your first point of contact regarding your depression should always be a medical professional.
While a family doctor is fantastic, I urge you to see a psychiatrist if at all possible when dealing with medication. Finding a good psychiatrist who you connect with is very important.
The information on this site is not a replacement for your medication if your doctor has prescribed it. Do not discontinue any medication without first consulting your doctor. Please follow his or her advice and use this website as a supplementary guide to help you get yourself to the next level.
If you’re new to depression, you probably want to start by reading by Depression FAQs.
That said, this site is divided into several sections including:
- MIND – this section is mostly about mental techniques to help with anxiety and depression including mindfulness, meditation etc.
- BODY – this section is about how nutrition, exercise, hydration etc can effect the way we feel.
- SOUL – this section explores the deeper areas of passion and purpose and how they impact our well-being.
- CREATIVE – as a writer, I love expressing myself through the genre of creative non-fiction which is basically true stories written with literary styles and techniques. This is the space where I put those pieces.
You can pick any post to start with and move through them however you like. There are no rules and, if you have any questions, just reach out to me.
Keep in mind that there’s a handy search bar near the top of every page in the lefthand side column. It’ll help you narrow things down if you’re looking for something specific.
I want you to find some hope and some new techniques here to help you as you move through your battle.
I know it’s incredible difficult, I really do.
I hope this can be a place where you find true inspiration and a bit of extra strength to get you through those hard days that always seem to come along at the worst times.
Please get in touch through Facebook, Instagram or via email. I always love to connect with my readers and I truly believe we are stronger fighting this together than we will be doing it alone.
Sending you loads of love,
